What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive technology is comprised of physical devices, software, and rehabilitative devices designed for people with various disabilities. These devices are also used to assist the elderly. The purpose of assistive technology is to allow people who are limited in performing independent tasks to do so without assistance.

What role does Assistive Technology play in the IEP process?
When working through the IEP process it is vital to include the assistive technology that will be utilized. Through the placement of accommodations and tools that allow for increased accessibility to the curriculum students can better reach their academic goals. The use of AT allows students to better overcome the challenges they experience based on their disabilities. The learning environment and the resources made available help to empower our students, which is pivotal to their success.
